PHARMEZ is India's first sector-specific Special Economic Zone dedicated exclusively to the pharmaceutical industry, developed and managed by Zydus Infrastructure Private Limited. Established in 2006 under the Government of India's SEZ policy, PHARMEZ provides a world-class industrial ecosystem for pharmaceutical formulation, research, biotechnology, and healthcare manufacturing.

Located on the Sarkhej–Bavla Highway (NH 8A), just 24 km from Ahmedabad, PHARMEZ offers strategic access to ports, airports, and logistics hubs. The present notified SEZ area stands at 91.8521 hectares across 25 plots.

Who We Are

India's Premier Pharma Hub

Zydus Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. received formal notification for its Sector-Specific SEZ for Pharmaceutical Formulations on 28 September 2006. Today, PHARMEZ is a nationally recognised centre of pharmaceutical excellence located on the Sarkhej–Bavla Highway (NH 8A), about 24 km from Ahmedabad.

The SEZ originally spanned 114.77 hectares across 35 plots (Phase I: 50.29 ha · 13 plots; Phase II: 64.48 ha · 22 plots) with 2.38 hectares designated as the non-processing area. Following rationalisation in December 2024, the present notified area stands at 91.8521 hectares across 25 plots, with 2 plots currently available.

PHARMEZ has issued 14 Letters of Approval and hosts 13 functional units — 10 in active production, 3 service providers, and 1 unit currently under construction.

First private SEZ in India to receive the IGBC Green SEZ Platinum Certificate — the highest recognition for sustainable Green SEZ practices.
